Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Covenantory website, applications, platform, and related services. Please read them carefully. If you use the services on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms for that organization.

1. Overview
Covenantory is a multi-tenant church operations and stewardship platform provided by Covenantory LLC (“Covenantory,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
These Terms apply to the Covenantory public website, marketing pages, web and mobile applications, the multi-tenant platform, and all related features and services (together, the “Services”). They cover acceptable use, customer accounts and ministry data, communications and messaging, giving and payments, AI-assisted features, security, and how suspension, liability, and disputes are handled.
By accessing or using the Services — including activating a workspace, accepting an invitation, or browsing public pages — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Definitions
The following terms have the meanings below when used in these Terms:
- “Covenantory” — the platform and Services described above.
- “Customer” or “Tenant” — the church, ministry, or organization that activates and administers a Covenantory workspace.
- “Authorized Users” — administrators, staff, and volunteers the Customer permits to access its workspace.
- “Individuals” or “Contacts” — the members, donors, guests, volunteers, staff, children/youth, and other people a Customer manages in the platform.
- “Ministry Data” — the data a Customer uploads, records, or generates about its Individuals and operations.
- “Content” — text, files, media, messages, and other materials submitted to or created within the Services.
- “Messaging Services” — SMS, WhatsApp, email, and related communications features, where enabled.
- “Giving Services” — payment, donation, and giving features, where enabled, provided through third-party payment processors.
3. Customer accounts and tenant administration
Each Customer is responsible for its workspace, including inviting Authorized Users, assigning roles and permissions, controlling access, removing users promptly when access should end, and keeping tenant and billing information accurate.
The Customer is responsible for all activity that occurs under its workspace and Authorized User accounts. The Customer must maintain lawful authority to collect, upload, and manage data about its Individuals — including members, donors, guests, staff, volunteers, children/youth, and other ministry participants.
4. Multi-tenant service boundaries
Covenantory is a multi-tenant platform. Each Customer controls its own Ministry Data within its own tenant workspace, and platform controls are designed to isolate one tenant's data from another.
Customers and Authorized Users may not attempt to access, probe, or interfere with another tenant's data, workspace, or the platform's isolation and security controls.
We may suspend, restrict, or limit access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risk, unlawful use, nonpayment, or compliance requirements imposed by carriers, payment processors, or other platform partners.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Services lawfully and responsibly. You may not use the Services for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, deceptive, or unauthorized purpose.
You may not upload malware, attempt to bypass or defeat security or tenant-isolation controls, or interfere with the integrity or performance of the Services.
You may not use the Messaging Services to send spam, deceptive or misleading messages, harassment, prohibited or unlawful content, or unsolicited messages to recipients who have not provided the required consent.
- No unlawful, fraudulent, or infringing activity.
- No harassment, abuse, or prohibited content.
- No malware, intrusion attempts, or circumvention of security or tenant isolation.
- No misuse of communications tools for spam, deceptive messaging, or non-consented outreach.
6. Customer content and ministry data
As between the parties, the Customer retains ownership of its Content and Ministry Data. The Customer grants Covenantory the rights needed to host, process, transmit, secure, back up, support, and operate the Services on the Customer's behalf, and to improve and maintain the Services consistent with the Privacy Policy.
The Customer is responsible for the legality, accuracy, and appropriateness of the data it uploads, and for obtaining and maintaining any consents, permissions, and legal authority required to collect and process that data — including data about children and youth ministry participants.
7. Communications and messaging services
Where enabled, the Services include Messaging Services. Distinct message programs operate under distinct responsibilities, described below. A dedicated, publicly reviewable SMS Program disclosure is available at /sms.
A. Covenantory platform SMS
Covenantory may send SMS text messages to prospective customers who explicitly opt in during a walkthrough request and to tenant administrators, staff users, and authorized business contacts who explicitly opt in through their notification preferences. Messages are limited to walkthrough follow-up, account setup, onboarding, service notifications, support follow-up, security and account alerts, and administrative activity.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
You may reply STOP to opt out at any time and HELP for help. Consent to receive platform SMS is not required to purchase or use the Services.
B. Church-to-member text messaging
Where enabled, Covenantory allows a Customer to send messages to its members, donors, guests, volunteers, leaders, and other Contacts. In this program the Customer is the sender — typically presented as the church, “powered by Covenantory.”
The Customer is solely responsible for obtaining, maintaining, and being able to demonstrate valid consent before sending messages, and represents and warrants that it has all required consent and legal authority to message each recipient.
Failure to maintain valid consent or to comply with messaging laws and carrier requirements may result in message blocking, carrier filtering, suspension of messaging features, or termination. Covenantory may enforce opt-outs and apply messaging-compliance controls.
C. Text-to-Give
Where enabled, Text-to-Give lets a donor initiate a giving workflow by texting an assigned or dedicated number. Payment methods and donor financial details are handled through secure, Covenantory-powered giving pages and third-party payment processors — not through the content of SMS messages.
SMS responses may confirm next steps, provide links, or report donation status. Message frequency varies and is generally tied to donor-initiated activity. STOP opt-out and HELP support apply, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Responsibility for a donation, including any dispute or refund, is allocated between the donor and the Customer receiving the gift; Covenantory provides the tooling and is not a party to the donative transaction.
D. Opt-out and help
Across messaging programs, recipients may reply STOP to opt out and HELP or INFO for help. After an opt-out, one final confirmation message may be sent to acknowledge the request.
- STOP — opt out of further messages.
- HELP or INFO — receive help information.
- One final confirmation message may follow an opt-out.
- Support: support@covenantory.com.
8. Payment, donations, giving, and financial services
Where enabled, Covenantory integrates with third-party payment and financial-data processors — currently Stripe for card and platform billing and Plaid for bank connectivity — to support giving and financial workflows. Covenantory stores processor references and tokens, not raw card or bank-account numbers. Imported bank information is stored in the Customer's workspace and isolated from other customers.
Covenantory is not a bank, money transmitter, donor-advised fund, tax advisor, or accounting firm. Customers are responsible for tax treatment, donor acknowledgments and receipts, fund-designation accuracy, refunds and corrections, and compliance with applicable laws.
Use of Giving Services is also subject to the applicable payment processor's terms. Covenantory does not guarantee the availability of any particular payment method or processor.
9. AI-assisted features
Where enabled, Covenantory offers AI-assisted features such as drafting, summarization, classification, and recommendations across areas including sermon, media, events, giving, and care workflows. These features are powered by third-party model providers acting as our subprocessors.
AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete and is intended to assist, not replace, ministry judgment. Authorized Users are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on or publishing it, and for lawful and appropriate use. Covenantory does not warrant the accuracy or suitability of AI output.
10. Privacy and data protection
Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy at /privacy, which is incorporated into these Terms.
Customer use of the Services must comply with applicable privacy, communications, children's/youth, donor, employment, and recordkeeping obligations that apply to the Customer's ministry and data.
11. Third-party services
The Services rely on third-party providers, which may include payment and financial processors (such as Stripe and Plaid), communications providers (such as Twilio for SMS and WhatsApp messaging and AWS SES for email), cloud infrastructure and AI model providers, and media or streaming providers (such as YouTube), where those features are enabled.
Covenantory uses YouTube API Services. By using Covenantory features that use YouTube API Services, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. Covenantory is not responsible for third-party services beyond its role in integrating them into the Services.
12. Service availability and changes
The Services may change over time. We may add, update, modify, interrupt, suspend, or discontinue features as the platform evolves, and we may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability.
We use commercially reasonable efforts to keep the Services available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
13. Security
Covenantory maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect the Services and the data they hold, including tenant isolation, least-privilege access, audit logging, and encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest.
Customers are responsible for account security, including safeguarding credentials, using strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where required, assigning roles carefully, and reviewing access periodically. Suspected security incidents should be reported promptly to support@covenantory.com.
14. Confidentiality
Each party may access non-public information of the other that is designated confidential or that a reasonable person would understand to be confidential (“Confidential Information”), including non-public business, product, customer, donor, operational, and technical information.
Each party will protect the other's Confidential Information using reasonable care and will use it only as needed to perform under these Terms, except where disclosure is required by law.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for nonpayment, abuse, security risk, unlawful use, failure to meet carrier or payment-provider compliance requirements, or material breach of these Terms.
Following termination, data export and retention are handled according to the Privacy Policy and applicable contract terms. Some records may be retained as required for legal, audit, payment, or accounting obligations.
16. Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Covenantory disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Covenantory does not provide legal, tax, accounting, financial, medical, or other professional advice. The Services are software tools for the Customer to operate its ministry and stewardship; decisions made using the Services remain the Customer's responsibility.
17. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Covenantory's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Services is limited to the amounts paid by the Customer to Covenantory for the Services in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
18. Indemnification
The Customer will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Covenantory from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of the Customer's Content and Ministry Data, its messaging and consent practices, its donations and giving activity, its misuse of the Services, its violation of law, and its disputes with recipients, donors, members, or third parties.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of the United States and the state in which Covenantory LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The parties will seek to resolve disputes in good faith before pursuing other remedies.
